Legacy
Pass it on, with the whole story.
Collections outlive collectors. SlabX is building a way to hand a collection to a family member with everything that makes it valuable, the history included, so the next owner inherits the record and not just the objects.
In design, not live yet
How it will work
Three steps, one record
Step 1: Name a successor
Choose the person who should receive the collection, or part of it, and how: on a date you set, on your say-so, or when a trusted contact confirms it is time.
Step 2: Seal the record
Every item goes over with its full history: grades, verifications, photos, what you paid, and the notes only you know. You can add a letter that opens with the collection.
Step 3: Hand it over
The successor accepts on their own SlabX account. The items move, the history continues under their name, and the ledger shows the handoff as one more line, not a reset.
Why it matters
What a collection is really worth to a family
The history is the gift
A shoebox of cards loses its story the day the collector is gone. A SlabX collection keeps it: which card was the first pull, what grandpa paid at the show in 1998, why the corner is bent.
Nothing moves without consent
A handoff needs the owner's instruction and the successor's acceptance. There is no silent transfer, and there is no way for us to move a collection on our own.
Estates and advisors welcome
Export the full inventory with values, cost basis, and provenance as a document an executor, appraiser, or insurer can read without an app.
What exists today
The foundation is already in the app
The history ledger, owner photos, purchase records, and grader verification shipped in version 2.0. Legacy handoff builds on them. Until it ships, you can export your full collection as a CSV from Settings and keep it with your estate documents.
Questions or a story about a collection you inherited? Tell us. It shapes what we build.
